Antenatal Care (pregnancy)

Through your pregnancy, I will come to you! From the comfort of your home, I will walk alongside you and your family while you and your baby grow. My antenatal visits include:

  • Measuring your fundal height, blood pressure, urine analysis and healthy weight gain. Assess your babies position, auscultation of babys heartbeat and measuring their growth.

  • Education and discussion around healthy pregnancy, assessing and treating common pregnancy discomforts, checking your pathology (bloods), referring you to specialist or allied health professional (if required/requested).

  • Perscribing any pregnancy related medications (if required) eg for pregnancy nausea or vomiting. I can also order pathology and ultrasounds as required.

  • Birth and postpartum preparation and education. Discussing your birth wishes, preferences and helping you build your birth plan. Assisting with postpartum planning, adjusting to parenthood and helping guide your support people.

  • 1:1 woman centered care, appointments that are not rushed, with time to answer all your questions.

Birth Attendance / Homebirth

I support women in homebirth, acting as your private midwife. That means:

  • 24/7 Access to me to text or call with concerns or questions.
  • On call for your birth 24/7 from 37-42 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Planned attendance at your birth with a second midwife you have met.
  • Labour and birth support at home or advocacy and support in a non-clinical role at the hospital if you need to transfer to hospital to birth.
  • All the necessary equipment and supplies for a home birth, including emergency medications and oxygen for resuscitation. I will also provide you with a ‘Homebirth preparation checklist’ around 36 weeks to help get you ready.
  • Postnatal care until your baby is 4 weeks old - including breastfeeding, emotional support, practical information and birth debriefing. Visits are daily at first, decreasing in frequency as your confidence grows. Further support is available to six weeks if required – and is usually bulk billed.
  • A complete copy of your maternity notes once your maternity care is complete.
  • The hire and use of an ‘Earthy Birth’ white birth pool and equipment needed to operate appropriately (this will be available from after 36 weeks gestation to keep at your house) if you desire.
  • You will receive: Centerlink registration forms, Baby Blue Book and relevant paperwork to register the birth of your baby.
  • Birth preperation and education sessions, including how to support physiological birth, optimising the role of the support people, early parenting, bonding and more.

Postpartum Care

After you give birth, whether vaginal or cesarean I will come visit you for the first 3 days and then every week after that as required. Whether in hospital or home, we will make a plan that works for you!

Offerring:

  • Postpartum education, including healing from birth, birth debrief, remedies and advice on promotion of healing.
  • Wound/suturing checks, assessing for infection and appropriate healing.
  • Breastfeeding support, breast checks ect (see breastfeeding care section below!)
  • Education and support around baby bonding, feeding, mental and emotional health, utilising allied health and social supports.
  • Newborn care education, including baby bath, weighs, feeding, changing nappies, settling technqiues, reading baby cues, behaviours, newborn cleaning, umbilical care, registration of birth, connecting with new parents and services such as Child and Family Health.
  • Education and offerring of newborn immunisations, Newborn Screening Tests (NBST) and Vitamin K if desired.
  • And more!

Holistic 1:1 midwife care in your home up to 6 weeks after baby is born, to help support you transition into motherhood.

Breastfeeding support

Breastfeeding support in the comfort of your home, even in your bed if you like! Private, 1:1 and evidence-based care supporting you through your breastfeeding journey. I can assist you with:

  • Checking attachment, latch and for oral ties.

  • Positioning assistance, methods, attachment and detatching.

  • Assisting with common breastfeeding challenges, including clogged ducts, cracked nipples, mastitis symptoms, cause and treatment (including perscribing medications and/or antibiotics if required).

  • Education of pumping, storing and preparing expressed breastmilk and/or formula preperation.
