Why choose a Private Practicing Midwife (PPM)?
Investing in a PPM is a big decision for most women (especially when you can get public care for free right!?).
Your investment pays for more than just a midwife, it’s someone who knows your story, preferences and wishes. A highly skilled professional that will guide you through one of the most special eras in your life, the birth of your child and the rebirth of yourself - as a mother.
No waiting rooms, no conflicting advice, just care with you in the center of it.
PPMs also bring ALL the specialist equipment such as fetal dopplers, resusitation and diagnostic equipment. This is alongside years of experience and ongoing training.
A Private Practising Midwife or PPM offers specialised midwifery care to women and their families, 1:1 care just for you. We are a known and trusted professional to walk alongside you and your family.
A PPM cares for you and your baby from conception all the way through your pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum period of up to 6 weeks. We check on you and your babys health, offer education and offer evidence-based information for you to be informed and empowered in your care.
We can order, interperate and refer you for pathology (bloods), ultrasounds and and specialist services or perscriptions you may need - so there is no need to see your GP for your pregnancy!
No! You no longer need to get a referral from your GP or Obstetrican to see an Endorsed Midwife! You just call or email me to make an appointment.
YES! In fact, you can see whoever you like. PPM can share your care, with whoever makes you feel safe and supported.
However, you don't need to see anyone else. This is your choice!
If you are seeing another clinician, we will request to share any relevnat information about your care between the two parties to ensure you are getting the best care and nothing is being missed!
Of course! Sometimes things change. You might move, change providers or even discover pregnancy later on. You can engage with a PPM at any gestation, however the earlier the better so we can give the best care possible.
Your pregnancy appointments start as soon as you book with me! They will generally range from 60-90 minutes and become more frequent as you get closer to your due date. We will also have a dedicated long appointments (120 minutes) at around 28 weeks for care planning and 36 weeks which is dedicated to birth planning, preparation and education.
I will check on you and your babys' wellbeing, including your pathology (blood works), blood pressure, fetal heart rate, fetal position, ultrasounds, growth, listen to your questions and concerns and give up-to-date advice and education. I will also check your health through your pregnancy and recommend any supplements or medication(s) required to sustain or treat any pregnancy related conditions such as antibiotics, iron deficiency, heartburn, nausea and vomiting.
Once you have birthed, I will liase with your birthing team and you to have a clear handover of your experience and what you would like support with most.
Your postpartum appointments go for approx 90-120 minutes and you will generally be seen every day for the first 3 days, and then as required over the next 6 weeks. This care is focused on recovery, adjusting and the physical, emotional and mental health of the new mother and her baby, supporting breastfeeding and navigating postpartum challenges.
This also includes a birth debrief, postpartum checks, breastfeeding support, baby checks, weighs, parental education, connection to new parenthood and more!
That's up to 10 months specialised 1:1 midwifery care that is designed just for you.
You can do this in conjunction with their GP, Obstectician or other provider.
You will be billed after each appointment. Eligible women can get up to approximately 75-85% of their fees back from Medicare!
I am slowly opening spaces from October 2026 for homebirth support & attendance.
However, if you would like me to attend your birth in a non-clinical capacity this can be organised at an additional fee. This is a great option for a known support person with years of experience with birthing women to assist you in your birth space and help advocate and support you.
If you need a midwife for your birth, I can provide you with contacts for some wonderful midwives in the area :)
